SoLO Life Opportunities (SoLO) is a charity which enables children, young people and adults with learning disabilities to enjoy social and leisure activities that the rest of us take for granted. We operate throughout Solihull from our offices based in Chelmsley Wood.
In providing social, leisure and fun activities for individuals with learning disabilities, we also provide the parents and carers of those individuals with much needed respite – a break from the full-time job of caring for disabled people.
The people we work with have a range of learning disabilities, from moderate to severe. We provide specialist leisure projects for those with more severe needs, in addition to activities which help people with moderate learning disabilities to access mainstream pursuits.
SoLO makes a difference to over 900 children and adults with a learning disability as well as over 1500 parents and carers. It costs almost £900,000 per year to run our services. Without this vital funding many would miss out on the chance to do something for themselves and develop as individuals.
We therefore need your help and support.
SoLO currently recieves a Children in Need grant to support our teams work with harder to reach children over the next few years.
We are also being supported by the National Foundation for Youth Music for a specific music project which is very exciting for us!
