Easter thanks

Huge thanks to Sainsbury’s Dorridge and their lovely customers – who have generously donated two trolley loads of Easter eggs so that our members can have extra treats this Easter. The store has adopted SoLO as their charity of the year and the partnership is very eggciting in so many ways!  There have been two bag pack weekends already – and the tins at the checkouts have been emptied more than once throughout the time – thanks to generous customers. The end of launch weekend is coming up fast and 12th/13th/14th May will see another bag pack – and more entertainment from our wonderful SoLO Choir and Totally Arts group who will both be performing over the weekend. It is thanks to such generous supporters that SoLO can keep on doing what it does best!...

partnership launch – this weekend!

SoLO is delighted to have been chosen as Sainsbury’s Dorridge charity of the year for 2016/17 – from three charities nominated for the challenge. This is such a great opportunity to raise awareness of what each organisation is doing to support the community and plans are already in place for a whole programme of events throughout the year. This weekend marks the launch of the partnership year and SoLO staff, volunteers and members will be busy in-store bag packing and raising awareness on Saturday. We will also be in evidence on Friday and Sunday so do come and join us and show your support for your local  store and your local charity – both doing a great job for the community.  We look forward to seeing you. Awesomeness

My second day in my new job with SoLO and I was fortunate enough to attend the Induction Training for new volunteers and staff of SoLO. I say fortunate, because it was an informative and really enjoyable evening with a fantastic group of volunteers and support workers who are also new to the team. The calibre of training at SoLO is of the absolute highest level. The evening covered the basics of what SoLO expects from volunteers and what volunteers can expect from us. The programme also covers Disability Awareness, and this part of the evening, with Scott, the Voice of the Members makes you realise why SoLO is a fantastic place to work as well as raising awareness of Disability Issues. People volunteer for so many reasons, such as personal, career and educational.  The quality of training and support I saw on Tuesday, the wonderful people who have chosen to dedicate their time to SoLO and our amazing members mean that volunteering and working at SoLO will be developmental as well as rewarding and fun. I will look forward to seeing many of the volunteers and support workers who attended with me again. https://theta360.com/s/c3gOtwGV3vMnmCEnenstyoZFI   Stuart Adams – Business Development...
